What’s the plan?

Boats are the opposite of houses, in that you start at the bottom, the hull. Keeping the Hull well maintained is critical to the boat’s survival. The entire boat is made of steel, most of it is about 4mm thick which is common with old barges like this. Much of it is overplated, also common.

Fix gasket in heat exchanger;

Find oil leak, check for deisel leaks, service engine.

Thoroughly clean and dry out engine room floor;

Remove mattress in bedroom, and dispose

Lift floorboards in bedroom to allow the bilges to dry out. No need to treat them yet.

(Do not replace the floorboards  with new ones at this point, put the old ones back until after the survey below)

Complete bathroom:

Remove floor under toilet,( not the shower) ensure bilges can dry out if necessary.

Plumbing needs repair complete shower unit, ensuring access to plumbing in future is made easy. Finishing comes later, after the survey

Gally area;

Lift one or two floor boards to check the bilges and allow them to dry out, (without removing dinette).

ONCE THE ABOVE IS DONE, THE BOAT WILL BE EITHER LIFTED OUT

THEN:

Prepare boat for survey:

Get survey done

repair hull based on survey- (NB this could involve replacing all the steel below the waterline- a MAJOR operation)

Black the Hull

? Get repeat survey.

 Once hull complete:

(Return boat to the water) and complete the following work:

Replace floorboards throughout including the wheelhouse

In the Wheelhouse, create a hatch to enable the engine to be viewed.

Replace Kitchen unit,

In kitchen, create access door to water pump and tank.

Install calorifier (water heater)

External work (in good weather)

Paint foot deck and railings.

Varnish all wood.

Preparing for sale:

Renew name signs.

Insert petrol gauge

Insert water tank gauge
